My Journal - May 2000 |

Today we dropped Evan off at school and I went to the library for 3 hours while Aunt Leslie worked. Then we picked Evan up again around 4:30. About an hour later Mom and Dad came home and we all went to BED!
First, we went to the National Geographic Society building. An exhibit about Antartica and a recently discovered dinosaur were in the building lobbies. Then we went to Arlington National Cemetary. We had a little tour of the grounds and Robert E. Lee’s house. Then we went home to bed!
Today we dropped mama off at the airport so she could go to a meeting back in Anchorage! Then I read till bed!
Today I read, played with next door neighbors and went to bed!
We read and played, also we went swimming at the Y, that was fun! Then we went to bed!
Today Dad and Mike put up a basketball net! I went to the library! Then we read, played and watched TV and went to bed!
Today Dad played 2 softball games and won both! The first was 20 to 3 and the second was 132 to 11 I think! Then we went with Carmen and Annie down to the park to bike and rollerblade! On the way back Carmen nearly crashed into a moving car! Instead she ran into a pole. Then we went to sleep!
Today I went to the library for four hours and slept!
Read, played and slept
Today Dad had another test. I read, we went to a bookstore, came home, read played the computer Solitaire, played basketball while rollerblading (with Carmen) ate dinner with Carmen, played Solitaire again, read the beginning of another book and went to bed!
Today I rollerbladed with Carmen make a quick trip to the library then I read a little then went to bed!
Today I played and Dad took a test. I read, we went to Safeway, I read, then slept!
Read, played, slept!
Today I played with my cousin-in-law Shelby in Pennsylvania then we went to bed!
Today was nothing special, the usual read, play, sleep!
"Down day" which means a day to hang out and rest.

"Down day" again.
Today, me and mama went to the National Zoo! We saw too many animals to describe. It was a beautiful zoo. I got read cheeks from the sun but that’s OK, they don’t hurt. My favorites were the almost grown tiger cubs. There were 3 of them romping around on their island. The lions were asleep. There were a zillion other animals, too! When we finally came home it was time for bed!

Another down day…..
A rest day and we helped Leslie (Uncle Mike’s wife) go through her baby stuff…she is 6 months pregnant and is getting ready for the new baby.
First, we went shopping at Union Square, then we rushed through the Capitol Children’s Museum. My favorite part was Japan. I think it would be neat to learn to speak Japanese, if not write it! We got to see a Japanese market, house, and classroom. We had to take our shoes off to go in the Japanese home though as that is their custom. Then we went to the Kennedy Center to listen to Irish music. Then we went home to bed!
The electrician came to work at Uncle Mike’s house so it was another "down day".
Today we went shopping at the Montgomery Mall Nordstrom to get a bigger size of shoes (my grandma and aunt had given them to me.) Mama got something at Victoria’s secret and I got Capri pants at the Gap. Then we went to an antique store called Aunt Betty’s and got two beanies! When we got home, I went on the net and got two more. I got Sneaky the cat, Trumpet the elephant, the Beginning Bear, and Morrie the Eel. Then I played with Carmen and Annie (the girls that live across the street) and went to bed!
Today we went to the National Air and Space Museum. We had lunch with Steve Estrada (Carmen and Annie’s dad) who works there. Then we saw some of the exhibits and two really cool movies in the Planetarium. "Star Quest" was about the stars and constellations. "A Star to Steer Her By" showed how navigation has changed through the years including how a GPS works (and we’re traveling with one!)
May 26, 00Another rest day!
Today we went to Harper's Ferry! A man named Brown tried to raid it right before the Civil War! It was kind of neat cause, it was very eventful! First Brown moved to a town right near Harper's Ferry, then he attacked one night, killing five white men and some life stock! Brown was caught and hanged in a town near by! That's about it so then we went to bed!
Rest day.
Today mama and me went to Mount Vernon with Leslie, Mike and Evan! First we went to the mansion! Every room, except one was disined and painted by Washington, while the remaining room was furnished by Misses Washington! Then me and Evan rolled down the hill in the back of the mansion! We rested while mama went to look at the gardens! Then we took a little walk down to Mr. and Mrs. Washington's tomb! Boring. Then came the fun part! We went down the hill beyond the mansion where Washington's crops where grown! Me and Evan can now rightfully say we weeded Goerge Washington's wheat fields! By that time my tooth was starting to ace pretty bad! So I took some aspirin and it was alright! Then we went to bed!
Today I went to the dentist! They took an X-ray because at 2am in the morning I had woken up crying because it hurt so bad! Turns out I have an abscess which is a infection inside the tooth right next to the nerve! Mine was caused by an extra deep unsealed filling from a cavitity I had a few years ago! So I had to go all the way to a different endodontist to drill into my tooth and clean out the inside! They gave me two numbing shots, instead of one! It felt really weird cause half of my whole mouth, including half my tongue! They cleaned out my tooth with bleach too! Yuck! Then they put in a temporary filling to keep my tooth clean! I have to come back to finish on the 9th of June then for the rest of the day we did errands! Mom got an antibiodic against infection and pain killer pills! I can only eat soft food for the first 24 hours! On my left side! Then we went to bed!
Today was Leslie's birthday! Other than that nothing big happened. I played basketball with Dad and had dinner at Carmen's! Then as always we went to bed!
